FERNS

Athyrium x 'Branford Rambler'

Branford Rambler Fern- A cross between Athyrium filix-femina (Lady Fern) and Athyrium niponicum pictum, (Japanese Painted Fern), this fern has some of the variegation of the Japanese Painted Fern, with taller stature and drought resistant nature of the Lady Fern. As the name implies it will spread and form a nice groundcover, but it is not invasive as some ferns. It grows about 2' tall and will spread about 3' wide. Hybridized by the legendary plantsman, Nick Nicou, of Branford, CT. The 'Branford Rambler' prefers full sun to partial shade, moist to well-drained soil. Space 18" apart.

Cold hardy in zones 4-8.
